What a special home this was to me! I knew I wanted to be part of this project from the first look at the house plans and then my discovery phone call with Julie was icing on the cake. Her vision for the home was clear: she wanted a quiet place to relax on the weekends, to gather family and friends, but with nothing too overdone. During my first visit out to the property, I was taken aback by the beauty of the rolling hills, gorgeous oak trees and sparkling water views. I knew at that moment that I could bring her vision to life. My goal was to create a simple and cozy, yet inviting, space that would allow the views of the property be the focus. Julie was such a joy to work with and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been included in bringing their dream to life!

I truly love being able to be part of our client projects because, more times than not, we become lifelong friends. What a gift that is!

Please describe your home before working with Moore House Interiors. What was your main problem with your home that caused you to hire a designer/decorator? What did you want or need for the space?

We had purchased land and, after several years of owning it, we were ready to start the process of building a home on it. My vision for the home was a Texas farmhouse. After doing some research, I found Ashley and Moore House Interiors. I liked her style and saw projects she had done with similar features I was looking for in our home. From the first phone call, I knew I had found the designer for us!

Had you worked with a designer prior working with MHI? And what was that experience like?

No, I had never worked with a designer and I was apprehensive. I was concerned about the cost of working with a designer but in the process, I realized having a designer was so necessary! MHI was priced very fairly and the experience of working with a wonderful designer like Ashley actually helped save us money. She helped us be forward thinking and made recommendations that were truly cost-saving for us. Left to my own devices, I would have likely made costly mistakes in the design process that might have been redone or left me unhappily living with selections I didn’t like. Enlisting Ashley and MHI for our project negated any of those issues.

How did you find Moore House Interiors? And why did you choose to work with us on your project?

I found Ashley online as I researched the style of home I was looking to build, Texas Farmhouse. I saw her work on Houzz and on her website and I liked her style so I gave her a call. After that call, I knew I found the designer for us! I clicked with Ashley, liked her design style and knew MHI was the team for our project.

What was your favorite part of the design process?

I truly can’t pick just one! We had a great experience from start to finish, it was such a joy to work with Ashley! She made design boards that were so inspiring to me, I loved that part of the process. I also loved the level of communication; she was always there when I needed her and was very responsive which was so important to me with a new build. I would be looking at selections and I’d need reassurance or recommendations and Ashley always delivered.

Another favorite part of the process was the in-home styling because it would have been the most challenging part for me on my own and knowing I had Ashley to sort through everything brought me peace of mind. Ashley styled my house to perfection! I loved the way it worked because I could bring items in and Ashley brought pieces in too. We used a combo of items and I really liked that. I love Ashley’s tastes so I was very pleased with all the touches she added and how she styled the home. Ashley had a great feel for my budget and found items that looked great but didn’t set me back more than I was comfortable with.

What do you see as the major difference in doing the project yourself & hiring a professional?

The result of hiring Ashley is a very stylish, put-together look. In addition, I truly believe Ashley saved us money in design mistakes I would have likely made on my own.

What value does a designer bring to the process?

Time and cost savings in addition to the design expertise.

Many people say that interior design is a luxury service & it’s too expensive. What do you say to your friends & family who believe that they might not be able to afford it?

I would now argue that you can’t afford to NOT have one! We were so pleased with the services of MHI that I wouldn’t ever take on a project like we had without using a designer.

Would you hire a designer again?

Absolutely and it would be Ashley and her team!
